Born in Sunderland in March 1953, Bishop Heskett was
ordained to the priesthood on 10 July 1976. From 1987 to 1990 he was
Superior of the Redemptorist Community at Kinnoull, Perth, Scotland and
director of Missions.
Bishop Heskett has served in the Archdioceses of Liverpool
and Southwark, first as Superior of the Redemptorist Community and the Parish
of Our Lady of the Annunciation, Bishop Eton, Liverpool. In 1999, he was
appointed Parish Priest at St Mary’s Clapham in South London where he remained
until 2008.
On 10 July 2010, he was ordained the seventh Bishop of
Gibraltar, 100 years after the first.
On 20 May 2014, Pope Francis announced Bishop Heskett as the third Bishop of Hallam succeeding the Rt Rev John Rawsthorne.
He was installed in the Cathedral Church of St Marie in Sheffield on 10 July 2014
